Tasks and Activities

My Name Is Climate undertakes a range of tasks and activities specifically designed to achieve its mission and vision. These include:

  • Organisation of Cultural Events: Developing and hosting art exhibitions, public performances, film screenings, and interdisciplinary cultural festivals that highlight climate themes and sustainable living, such as My Name Is Climate Film Festival in the UK and another significant upcoming initiative is the Almere International Film Festival 2025 (AIFF), which will be held for the first time in Almere end of 2025. This festival will feature films and artistic works that explore environmental challenges and solutions, engaging both local and international audiences.

  • My Name Is Climate Film Festival (MNICFF): Since its inception in 2015, My Name Is Climate has successfully organised the "My Name Is Climate Film Festival" in the United Kingdom. This established festival provides a vital international platform for filmmakers to submit works addressing critical topics such as climate change, animal and human rights, and various social issues. During the two-day festival, we host engaging workshops to support individuals seeking assistance and facilitate discussion panels on pressing climate topics with leading experts. The festival consistently draws a diverse audience, including filmmakers from around the globe, activists, local government officials, council representatives, and local residents. To date, the festival has garnered significant attention and participation, establishing itself as a key voice in environmental and social advocacy through film.

  • Almere International Film Festival (AIFF) 2025: A significant upcoming initiative is the inaugural Almere International Film Festival (AIFF) in Almere. This new festival will feature films and artistic works that explore environmental challenges and solutions, engaging both local and international audiences, further expanding our reach and impact.

  • Educational Workshops and Programmes: Designing and delivering workshops, seminars, and educational materials for various age groups, fostering climate literacy and promoting responsible environmental behaviour.

  • Digital Engagement Campaigns: Utilising online platforms and digital art to reach broader audiences, disseminate information, and encourage virtual participation in climate discussions.

  • Collaborative Artistic Projects: Partnering with artists, cultural institutions, and environmental organisations to create impactful projects that bridge the gap between science and art, making complex climate issues accessible and relatable.

  • Research and Development: Exploring new and innovative ways to use cultural expression as a tool for environmental advocacy and community building.

  • Beyond film, we actively develop and host broader art exhibitions, public performances, and interdisciplinary cultural festivals that highlight climate themes and sustainable living.

Planned Activities

Our activities for 2025-2028 will focus on the following key areas:

For our Annual Flagship Event: Almere International Film Festival (AIFF), our objective is to establish AIFF as a leading international platform for climate-themed cinema and art, drawing diverse audiences and fostering critical dialogue. Our activities will include the curation of compelling film programmes, organisation of panel discussions with filmmakers and climate experts, interactive art installations, and educational workshops tied to the festival theme.

Regarding Community Engagement Programmes, our objective is to reach underserved communities and integrate climate education into local cultural contexts. This will involve activities such as mobile art exhibitions, pop-up workshops in community centres and schools, collaborative projects with local artists and environmental groups, and storytelling initiatives.

In terms of Digital Innovation and Outreach, we aim to leverage digital platforms for broader dissemination of climate messages and interactive engagement. Our activities here will encompass the development of online educational resources, virtual art exhibitions, interactive web-based campaigns, and social media initiatives to spark global conversations.

Finally, for Partnerships and Collaborations, our objective is to forge strategic alliances with national and international cultural institutions, environmental organisations, academic bodies, and and corporate partners. The activities in this area will include joint exhibitions, co-produced events, shared research initiatives, and mutual support in advocacy efforts.
